"Last year it was pastrami. This year it's salami. It's meat on meat, baby!" is what Michael Symon had to say as he accepted his second consecutive People's Choice Award at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival 2011 Burger Bash.

Part flash mob part flash dance, Moncler took over Grand Central Station in New York City last week for Fashion Week.  Quite a spectacular preview of their new Fall/Winter line, which had to set them back a pretty-penny! Hopefully no one missed their train while this was happening and it was over early enough for us to get home and watch the Grammys.

Andy Warhol Self-portrait Sells For $17 Million

Andy Warhol self-portrait crowned a big art week in London, selling for $17.4 million at Christie’s. The piece which dates from 1967 is a red square six-foot acrylic and silkscreen piece showing Warhol staring thoughtfully at the viewer, two fingers covering his mouth. Legendary art dealer Larry Gagosian snapped it up, bidding in the room and wresting it away from another client on the telephone.

The portrait was one of a series of 11 large self-portraits, five of which are in museums. This piece had been in a private collection since 1974 and has never been published. Francis Outred, Head of Post-War and Contemporary Art, Christie’s Europe said that the work represents Warhol at “the peak of his creative powers.” At this point in his career he was internationally recognized as the most important and controversial figure in American Pop Art.

Bearing the distinctively checked Damier pattern on its canvas covering, this case was perfect for long voyages, whether by land or sea. Its flat top was a Louis Vuitton innovation that made it easy to stack in cargo, and the soft interior lining protected one’s valuables. Original hardware, including the marked latch, drawbolts and brass rivets, beechwood slats and the original paper label complete this case. Price: $22,500

New Michael Jackson and Akon Music Video "Hold My Hand”

Try as they might, those in the music business working to make sure Michael Jackson–or, at the very least, the revenue he generates–lives forever haven’t had great success in that arena. The two “new” songs from the King of Pop were at best sub-par tunes and at worst cynical cash-ins that were actually performed by someone who simply sounded like Michael.

Get Some Good Hangers - Kirby Allison's

It’s easy to think that the shape or size of the hanger you put your jacket on doesn’t make any difference, but it does. Without adequate support, well made shoulders on a thin hanger can bend and distort, ruining the care that has been taken to make sure they fit properly.

Paper has produced a sound selection of shorts related to Art Basel Miami. I particularly like this one because it focuses on musical performances during the event. Some are surprising, some are who you might expect. Most of all, the musicians thoughts are upbeat and fun, and the video gives taste of the night life side of Basel.

JWoww Wants Her Nude Pics Back

PDFPrintE-mail

Blog - Girls

There’s a funny dynamic with naked pictures – as in once there are naked pictures of you being circulated around the world, it’s reallllly hard to get them back. You’d have to physically fight the internet.

A proposition which JWoww, popular reality show starlet and human flotation device is now facing. Jersey Shore has been one of reality TV’s biggest success stories – going from the story of a group of people who think that they’re rockstars, to actual rockstars, to walking collections of viruses and clichés who somehow have millions of dollars in the bank. Along the way, relationships have been fractured, spin-offs have been established, and DJ careers launched.

And naked pictures. For anyone who follows the show,JWoww – dilettante in the art of jujitsu, manufacturer of her own clothes, and appreciator of Gorillas – is a spitfire. Who loved her man Tom, and just wanted to be with him. But apparently didn’t pay him for services he rendered as her manager – and now he’s threatening to release naked pictures of her across the internet.

But hey, that’s just another chapter in the life of guidos. You can’t script it. You can’t contain it. You can only sit back and appreciate it – like a fine sunset in the aftermath of a volcano.

"King, R" by Asser Saint-Val

There are a lot of things that are awesome about Art Basel week, only one of which is actually Art Basel. In between staring at five-digit price-tags for paintings we'll never buy and making awkward conversation with socialites, we'll be headed to Arts for a Better World -- a 40,000 square foot exhibit at Wynwood's Soho Studios.
