What comes to mind when you think of accountants? Grey suits? Calculators…? Eyeglasses…? How about sexy? Curvaceous…? What I’m hoping to do is forever alter your perception of accounting. Introducing Sonya Renee.
On a warm, sunny (perhaps too sunny) afternoon in a section of midtown Manhattan called Murray Hill, I was visited by an angel. This angel told me things about myself that I knew yet seemed new coming from her lips. I was severely sleep deprived so this could have easily been a hallucination. It wasn’t. We spoke of life and astrology while perched on the private deck of a penthouse suite in William Rogers Hotel. The Empire State Building stands sentinel against the city around us. I felt at ease with the Grey-eyed Greek beauty. I wanted to know as much about her as she did of me.
On the road to self-discovery, a person will have to confront personal demons as well as discover treasures hidden within us all. For some of us life is so full of possibility that a singular ‘treasure’ within us remains hidden… waiting to be discovered. “I still haven’t figured that out yet,” says Katy Ngo of Cincinnati, Ohio. “We can discover that together.” And at this little statement I get a tad excited. This girl is likeable. And off we go.
When a tragedy befalls us… we feel a weight and burden that seem insurmountable. I have learned that tragedy and hardship has positive side effects. Most tend to build character and strength; great causes in society are very often centered on tragedy. Throughout human history, hardship has repeatedly led to a time of rabid creativity and unrestricted productivity. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. I have come to appreciate the hard times that influenced me to make critical decisions and take certain roads in my life. Laura understands this all too well.
Grey Skies. It’s another one of those days where inertia threatens, unproductive behavior looms, and catatonia seems inevitable. However I must proceed. Ahead lie conversation with a gorgeous girl, where ideas are exchanged and life, love and career is discussed. Purpose prevails. I wrestle with complacency, stirred by the thought of a pretty girl divulging her hearts desires. As I sip pre-boiled tea (someone suggested pouring my cup right before the water boils) steeped overnight for full flavor, I will let you guys get to know HTM’s newest inductee. “Hey everyone, nice to meet you all! My name is Nikki Giovanni.” Say hello guys.
