Tracey Delara | A Daydream Away

Music - Rock Star Revolt

Tracey Delara. Sexy. Sweet.Talented. A recording artist from the Philadelphia area with her eyes fixed on the top. I won’t deny it, I think she’s adorable. A voice both sweet and strong, qualities I look for in a songstress. I’ve seen her around for some time and only recently had the opportunity to interview the live but far from local Tracey Delara.

What can the music world expect from Tracey Delara? “A bunch of things! Nothing but positivity and great things. A Filipina pop artist with a different flavor, an edge, and sound that the world hasn't seen or heard yet.” She sounds so confident in her words and I take it as another good quality. For some it can come across as pompous but confidence should always be a positive. Who wants to be uncertain?

Origins intrigue us all. “How did you get started in music?” “I knew from a young age that music was what I wanted in my future. I would always sing, dance, write songs and poems, and dream about being on stage. I daydreamed a lot! But I knew it wasn't just a daydream, I knew in my heart that it would really happen and it was God's plan for me.” And here we are.  With such vivid dreams anda natural gift, Tracey has the foundation to achieve whatever her heart desires.

“Who has been your greatest inspiration and influence?” “My greatest inspiration and influence in life would have to be my Grandmother…” she begins then adds, “…or as we called her "Nanay" in Tagalog.” This strikes the grandson in me and I can hear the conversations we would always have.  Tracey then continues, “She would always tell me and my sisters to follow our dreams. Life is too short to live with regrets. So you have to just do it!  So no matter how much people may doubt you no matter what it is in life, you should always go for it 150%!”

“What do you hope to accomplish with your music?” Tracey’s prolific speech continues, “I really want to touch every kind of person there is out there. From 5 years to 100 years old. The way Michael Jackson did. When I would watch a Michael concert, I would literally cry every 5 minutes just staring at how his fans would react!; Their eyes, crying, their faces, jumping up and down, and just smiling because his music is just so powerful. They're the best fans in the world. I want to affect people the same way.” I am moved by her sensitivity and vision. But I quickly recover.

“After reading your bio it looks like you are quite the student of entertainment, what has been your greatest lesson?” “My greatest lesson would have to be staying true to who you are. No matter what. After being around a lot of other artists, producers, and writers you just learn that being who you are and staying humble is key.”

I can almost feel her energy change when she finishes, “There are a lot of people who are just straight up fake, and it's noticeable. You also notice a lot of people who hate on you for just working with people you work with. There's so much competition in this game, you just can't take everything personal. Just put on a smile and send out positive energy, even to the haters :)”

“It's apparent that you love being on stage, what is it like for you when you're performing?”  Once again her energy is both infectious and bright. “It's the greatest feeling in the world!” she says. “ I love it so much. Of course you get the butterflies and everything, but once I hit the stage I am in another world. I want the crowd to feel that. I want them to know I'm real. I want to bring them out of reality for that moment to just dream and enjoy the music.”

All my life I’ve always marveled at how music affected people’s emotions, I wanted to know if she knew felt this too. “Do you believe in the power of music to affect people's lives?” I ask. “Of course!I definitely believe in that 100%!” Tracey is quick to answer. “When I was younger I didn't have a lot of friends. I was made fun of a lot for being different. So, I turned to music. My family and music was all I had. When you're sad there's always a song you can relate to. When you're happy, you can always put on that upbeat song to get you excited. It's just your feelings and emotions put into a song.”

Last but not least I want her to leave you with a picture of her music in your head. “Describe your music in your own words?” “My music is pop with an edge with a little bit of that future sound. Everyone will be able to listen to it and just sit back and relate to it. Whether it be a breakup song, dancing in the club, or telling a guy to back off, it's there.  It's definitely music I can't wait for the world to hear!” You heard her.
