Rock Star Revolt | Paola Keeps It Simple
Singer. Model. Actress. Dancer. Paola Duarte prefers to be called Paola “I like to keep it simple,” she says; is 22 years old but to let her tell you she “sometimes can look 18.” This beautiful talented girl grew up in Somerville NJ but “currently resides in Monmouth Junction” and is “%100 Colombian and proud!” “I love that I can incorporate my Spanish flavor into my music,” Paola says of her musical style, “Right now I am focusing on the Latin/Pop style.”
“I have been working with my musical career since I was seventeen,” opens up Paola about establishing her career goals. “I started with a girl group called ‘B.L.U.E.’ out of New York. The group obviously didn’t last but that didn’t stop me. I actually learned a lot from that. All together my music goals have been established for about five years."
I was interested in what stages has she graced with her beauty and talent. “I have performed at many different clubs in the eastern area,” she says “like NY, NJ, PA, and Maryland… Clubs like Abyss, Rhythms, NV Lounge, La Tasca Bar, New Station House, The Ritz Theater, Club Sapony and many more… I have also shared stage with different Latin bands like Lopez, La Potencia Latina, Wilmer Manga, N’Talla and the list goeson [laughs]!! I must say that I have been blessed.”
It’s important for any upcoming artist to set short and long term goals. “One of the accomplishments I had with my music in ‘09’ was to finish my ‘mini’ demo. I worked with different producers and made it happen. I also had the opportunity of performing with different Latin artists.” What does she have in store for 2010? “I am happy to say that for 2010 big things are going to happen!” she says, the energy of her words contagious. “I am shooting my first music video for my single ‘STIMULATION.’ Stimulation is her current hit single produced by Bryan Steele. “It’s a pop song that I’m hoping hit the clubs and everyone dance to!”
HTM: What makes your music different from your other competition?
Paola: I think that if we look at the artist that are out at this moment or my competition, the only thing that sticks out the most is that no one is singing in both English and Spanish. This is something that I have been doing for a while, and I try to stay true to my Latin roots and gain respect from that audience. This is definitely something that makes me and my music different from anyone else out there.
HTM: If you could change one thing about your music what would it be and why?
Paola: I honestly wouldn’t change anything about my music at this moment. The only thing I do want, is to improve and grow as an artist to better myself to become a better musician/entertainer.
HTM: What sacrifices did you make in order to establish your musical goals further?
Paola: I have made many sacrifices to be able to follow my dream, and be able to establish my music career. One of the biggest and hardest sacrifices I had to make was not see my family as much. I am very family oriented, and even though I always count with their support, is always good to have them around… but because I have been so busy, and I m putting so much time in my career, it makes it so hard. I try not to go a month without seeing my parents.. . I feel like my world is over when it goes past a week.. lol… I love my family too much! Another sacrifice is going out to party with my friends. Sometimes I do have time, but I am exhausted. Every chance I get to just stay home and rest,I soo take advantage of!
HTM: How do you feel about Hidden Treasures Magazine representing your music?
Paola: Wow, I truly have to say that I am honored that HiddenTreasures is representing my music. I am very blessed and thankful for the wonderful opportunity. Hidden Treasures is the iisshhh!! =)
And we feel very blessed to be able to represent a wonderful talent like Paola. Look out for great things as we will be following this rising star. Heaven look out!!!HTM.
